Sonya Stone is a Partner with CAUSA Talent Source. She is known for her unique blend of experience leading and growing companies as a Board Member/Advisor, business owner, C-suite and business development executive. Sonya’s operating, technical and consulting expertise is grounded in over 30-years of broad business experience ranging from Partner and C-level roles with a national executive services firm, two leading public accounting firms, entrepreneurial CEO in her own professional services firm, CFO of a financial planning and investment management firm, as well as consulting with numerous middle-market privately-held companies and nonprofits. A CPA and Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), Sonya currently serves on the Board of Trustees for George Mason University Foundation.


Sonya has a track record of helping companies navigate critical points in their business lifecycle including leadership change, rapid-growth, M&A, market dislocation, financial distress, integrations, turnarounds, and restructures. Industry experience includes financial and professional services, private equity, commercial and investment banking, government contracting, real estate, technology, energy and nonprofits. Selected accomplishments include:

  • Recruited to help turnaround the Mid-Atlantic region of a professional services firm and revitalize its brand, Sonya launched a nonprofit services offering that became the fastest growing and most profitable segment within two years. Her innovations in go-to-market strategy, project rescues and recruiting helped double revenue and grow margins by 40% over two years.

  • Realized more than $150 million in value-add to two clients over two years through successful M&A.

  • Ranked among the top 1% in a Multinational Global Leaders program, Sonya won multiple honors and awards for character, exemplary leadership and consistent top-tier revenue production.

  • Helped clients achieve transformational goals related to strategy, governance, liquidity, sustainability, finance, workforce and infrastructure alignment.

  • Led the region’s “Women Powering Business” program helping companies and boards tap its highly qualified network of executives while enhancing the firm’s brand.

  • Selected by her peers to lead the first formal assessment of the CEO and partner evaluation process for a leading public accounting firm.

She earned her BS in Accounting from George Mason University. A mother of three grown children, Sonya is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals and families living with intellectual and physical disabilities.
