Leadership

Jim McAndrews is a Partner with CAUSA Talent Source.  He has over thirty-five years of broad experience with two large public companies, two public accounting firms and a national professional services firm, as well as consulting with several privately-held companies and nonprofits.  Jim has a CPA, a law degree and a Masters in Tax Law degree that he uses with his accumulated business, accounting, management and leadership skills to lead teams delivering extraordinary results.

 

Prior to joining CAUSA Talent Source, Jim held executive positions with numerous firms referenced above.  He brings a wealth of experience and accomplishments including:

 

  • Increased office revenues 54% year over year for the New York City office of a national executive services firm, nearly doubling the size of the NY Metro consulting executive cohort, and producing that office’s three highest revenue months since that office was opened in 1999.

  • Worked with the turn-around management team for a national health care provider, recovered over $600 million in federal and state income tax refunds and interest with multiple tax refund filings over 20 months, substantially exceeding tax refunds of $213 million expected to be collected.

  • Turned around a large company’s relationship with its IRS audit team in less than six months from mutual mistrust to a collaborative partnership that accelerated the recovery of the company’s substantial tax refunds.

  • Refocused and re-directed the Tax Department of a large public company, to accelerate skill development and raise productivity, bringing more than $10 million of annual outside consulting tax work in-house, saving substantial cost and significantly improving internal controls.

  • Achieved substantial increases in productivity and performance after becoming the Department head and “right-sizing” that function from 61 to 38 professionals.

  • Implemented performance incentives and training to initiate tax deferral strategies and savings from tax reporting that increased annual net income $27 million while successfully defending 92% of more than $2 billion of proposed audit adjustments asserted by the IRS for a large public financial services firm.

Jim received his BSBA degree in Accounting from Georgetown University, and his law degree and his Masters of Law in Taxation degree from The Georgetown University Law Center.  He is a CPA licensed in Virginia and admitted to the Bar in the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania and Virginia.  Jim has been active in numerous charitable, professional and civic organizations, including serving as the Ball Co-Chair for the annual Leukemia Ball in 1999 and 2000, the Tax Executives Institute (TEI) Chapter President and Board member for the Baltimore-Washington, DC Chapter, and service on numerous school and educational advisory boards.  Jim lives in Arlington, VA, and completed marathons in Bermuda, San Diego, CA and Dublin, Ireland, as well as the 40 mile Bike Tour of New York City.
